Gravenstein Memorial Service

I attended the J.S. Gravenstein Memorial Service this morning. It was held at Westminister Presbyterian on 34th Street, 11am. There was an overflowing mass of supporters as you would rightly expect. A most beautiful and touching ceremony. The music and eulogies were amongst the best I’ve ever witnessed.

Rare sickness kills child; officials urge vaccination – CNN.com

They’re talking about Hib.

This is significant; back in medical school, epiglottitis was a frequently discussed topic in our texts because it appeared so frequently before the vaccine. I don’t think our current crop of residents have seen a kiddo with Hib epiglottitis; the vaccination programs have been that good. Looks like we’re gonna have to relearn how to manage these kiddos.

Don’t even want to think about Hib meningitis.

Back from the Christmas Party…

Wow, so much fun! Molly was a bit off kilter, as she didn’t sleep a whole bunch last night and skipped her nap to party. Kudos to Dr. Enneking and team for such an awesome Christmas party. Everyone brought 3 dozen cookies to share. Then, everyone got to bring a bunch home! Cool idea. Aside from the beautiful setting, Santa was there! And sledding!dsc_4817_2
