5 Seconds

We had 5 seconds of independent standing today. Hurray! Molly looked like a surfer, knees slightly bent, arms out, looking all around. Finished her feat by falling forward to daddy’s arms. She was so happy!

After a stormy morning complete with tornado warnings, Gainesville brightened up to a beautiful breezy day. Molly took her first assisted-steps out by the lake. She was intrigued by the grass. Simply, ecstatically intrigued.

Fun from the Weekend

Long outing for Daddy and Molly, giving Mommy some time home. Molly was a little overwhelmed at Best Buy, enjoyed Publix (and all of the attention). Triggered at least one couple to start talking about having kids!

Church: Lots and lots of happy sounds. She was a peach. We let her sit down between us in the pew, where she quietly played and played while sitting there. Another fun Mass!

Carlises: Erin’s parents and brother came over for lunch and dinner. Molly, needless to say, had a blast with all of the playing and attention. She slept quite well last night.

This morning: When Mommy asked her if she’d had a fun weekend, she replied “Mmmmmmmmmmmm….Hmmmmmmmmmmmm”! So smart!

Molly’s Big Day

Molly had a pretty big day today. Involved her usual morning of napping, eating and playing mixed in with an afternoon adventure to St. Augustine.
Newsworthy items:

  • First visit to St. Augustine
  • First mashed potatoes
  • First fish (broiled Mahi Mahi)
  • Crawling-like motion with true forward progress
  • Came eye-to-eye with a seagull
  • First trip to a marina
  • First time on a floating dock

Sleeping Molly

So tonight, rather than curled up or pushing the top of her head into the crib bumber, Molly’s just flat out on her back in the middle of the crib. Arms straight out and flopped down. She looks pooped!

Dear Molly

Dear Molly,

Right now, you’re asleep in your crib. You’ve managed to wiggle the top of your head into the bumper, and then fall asleep with your customary passy. You’re also teething a bunch lately (we think), hence the motrin tune-up. Dr. Nik Gravenstein, at the Christmas Party this year, opined that one of the great events making parenting just a little bit easier was the advent of Children’s motrin. (I remember Dustin and I looking at eachother, each of us I think silently thinking “huh”.)

We also learned how to play “slingshot”, whereby daddy takes you from standing to (slowly) flying by rolling onto his back. We even did a handoff with mommy, the tandem slingshot. You loved it, huge smiles. Don’t worry, we never let go!

I hope you enjoyed the Christmas tree! This was your first, but certainly not your last. Mommy says we’ll be taking it down tomorrow morning. It was a great tree, healthy and green for a very long time.

Well, time for bed; we get to go to Church tomorrow morning. You love going to church. I think it’s all of the joyous music, the smiling people, the babies, and all the smiles and laughter you garner as a super-cute baby looking at the pews behind you.
